There are a number of benefits that students can gain by blogging in the classroom. To me the biggest benefit is simply that the students are writing. The more students write, the more detail that they use to write, the more used to using proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation they better writers they will become. Secondly, blogging allows for a dialog to be opened between not only a student and teacher but also students and other students and even the entire classroom and the rest of the Internet. Finally, I feel that a allowing students to learn how to express themselves in a respectful and honest manner is an additional benefit of blogging.
